I am an economic geographer and regional scientist (PhD, LSE) with a background in Regional Planning and Development (Diploma and MSc, University of Thessaly). My research centres around the spatial analysis of socioeconomic phenomena, with a special emphasis on regional economics. More specifically, my fields of research include regional economic development and growth, regional policy, labour markets, inequalities, education, externalities, social welfare, the welfare state, migration, decentralisation, innovation, social capital and natural hazards. In all these areas I have produced a series of academic papers in top scientific journals (e.g. Journal of Regional Science, Papers in Regional Science, The Annals of Regional Science, Regional Studies, Environment and Planning A, Environment and Planning C, World Development, Spatial Economic Analysis and International Regional Science Review) and a series of discussion and working papers (e.g. SERC Discussion Paper, CEPR Discussion Paper, IMDEA Working Paper). From a methodological point of view, I have a strong interest in applied spatial and dynamic econometrics (esp. cross-sectional and panel data techniques) and in applied multivariate analysis (esp. structural equation models). My methods also include spatial statistics, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and network analysis.
