The Research Unit of Tourism Policy and Planning [UTouPP] supports teaching and research needs in spatial planning, spatial analysis, and governance, emphasizing on tourism policy. Among the subjects covered are the spatial planning of activities and infrastructure, the promotion of alternative forms of tourism, sustainable development in urban and rural areas, and the assessment of the economic and social impact of tourism. In focus of the Laboratory’s interests are also the issues of Marketing and Branding of Place as well as integrated approaches to urban regeneration. Currently is engaged in maritime spatial planning. The research unit is engaged in related projects and provides specialised consultancy services. The scientific team consists of experts in spatial planning, urban design, urban development, marketing and spatial analysis.
