The lesson in its broadest sense aims to create critical thinking for students in spatial planning and to prepare them to meet the contemporary challenges of spatial planning and development.
The specific purpose of the course, which focuses on applied spatial planning, examining examples in real life. Is not only to familiarize students with the basic concepts of spatial planning but, through a critical approach, to familiarize themselves with recent developments in spatial planning in Greece, to reflect on the implementation of spatial planning tools in practice but also on the search for new (alternative) approaches, spatial planning structures to better respond to the modern challenges.
The course also aims to inform – familiarize students with the issues promoted and implemented by the central administration, the Ministry of Environment & Energy, but also deals with decentralized administration as well as the two tiers of government and the private sector.
Courses will include presentations on the action-impacts of International Organizations (such as the European Union, the Council of Europe), on spatial planning and their influence in Greece.
