The course discusses a series of issues that cover all aspects / stages of urban planning policy, from conception and planning to implementation and monitoring-evaluation. The course aims to familiarise students with the basic concepts and various aspects of urban planning policy, the instruments / institutions and frameworks through which urban planning is enacted both in Greece and abroad, and the impact both of other policies and of elements belonging to the planning ‘tradition’.
This is fundamental to urban planning and the comprehension of urban plans. The course also provides the necessary foundations for students participating in the urban planning studios of the 3rd and 4th academic terms.
The course is conducted through lectures and the preparation of an independent project.
The course content encompasses:
Students are evaluated according to a) their grade on the written final examination and b) their grade on their independent project, while participation in class is also taken into consideration. Grades are allocated as follows:
