UTH DPRD Regional Economic Analyses and Policy Laboratory contributes to the implementation of the European Spatial Planning Observation Network (ESPON) “Interregional Relations in Europe (IRiE)” project.
The general objective of ESPON IRiE project is to analyze interregional flows to design actions that reduce barriers and facilitate the movement of people, capital, goods and services, and include information on flows within the regional Smart Specialization Strategies. In this framework, the effects of different types of emergency scenarios will be analyzed, such as the Covid-19 epidemic or the Brexit process for the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.
ESPON IRiE will carry out its activity from May 2020 to April 2022 and will have a budget of about €1,000,000.
The Scientific Consortium responsible for the implementation of the ESPON IRiE project consists of: Government of Navarra (lead partner), Autonomous University of Madrid, University of Eastern Finland, S&W Urban and Regional Research, University of Thessaly, Polish Academy of Sciences, and Delft University of Technology.
The UTH DPRD Research Team consists of: Associate Professor Dimitris Kallioras (scientifically responsible), Professor George Petrakos, Dr. Maria Tsiapa (Laboratory Teaching Staff), Dr. Lefteris Topaloglou, Dr. Panagiotis Manetos (Laboratory Teaching Staff), Dr. Evangelos Rasvanis, and Ms. Maria Adamakou (PhD Candidate).
