2011
Nikolaos Gavanas is an Assistant Professor in Transport at the Department of Urban Planning and Regional Development. He holds a PhD in Transport from the Department of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He has a MSc in Transport Planning and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He has worked as an adjunct lecturer for the Department of Spatial Planning and Development and for the Department of Civil Engineering of AUTh as well as for the former Department of Civil Engineering T.E. of the TEI of Thessaly. He has worked as a Policy Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, as a researcher in national and European research projects and as an engineer in traffic studies. He participated as member of the Sectoral Scientific Committee (TES) of Environment, Energy and Sustainable Mobility of the National Council for Research, Technology and Innovation (ESETEK) (Φ.Ε.Κ. 932/09-11-2020-Υ.Ο.Δ.Δ.). His scientific interests focus on transport planning, traffic engineering, sustainable mobility and the relationship between transport and spatial development.
