1983
Dr. Nicholas Batis is a Professor in the Department of Planning and Regional Development. He is also serving as a member of the Integration Council that supervises the integration of the University of Thessaly with the TEI of Thessaly. In the past he held the positions of Rector, Dean and Department Head at the TEI of Thessaly.
Dr. Batis started his academic career as a faculty member of the University of Massachusetts/Boston and continued his research work at the Bell Laboratories where he was involved in analytical studies of high performance communication networks. Dr. Batis’ work was presented in various domestic and international forums and formed the basis for the edition, under the care of Dr. Batis, of the ANSI standard document of Frame Relay.
Dr. Batis holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Athens, and completed his post graduate studies in New York University Tandom School of Engineering (former Polytechnic Institute of NY), which lead to the award of two Master degrees in Operations Research and Economic Systems respectively and a Ph.D. degree in Operational Research. His research interests are concentrated mainly on performance issues of high speed communications protocols.
